ChainRift’s number one priority is securing your funds and private information. This article will outline some additional steps that we strongly recommend you personally take in order to help us protect your account from unauthorized access and other fraudulent activity.

With massive misinformation being fed to everybody in the cryptosphere, trust remains the single most important issue for users. In accordance, our experienced development team is constantly monitoring and improving the infrastructure to minimize and eliminate potential attack vectors. However, even though ChainRift offers several security features for you not to become a victim of phishing attacks or hacks, it’s really up to users to take advantage of those features or not.

Bookmark our website

Bookmark https://www.chainrift.com/ in your browser and only ever use this link to access our website. Be sure to check for the lock symbol appearing in your browser’s address bar when you access ChainRift. This means that your connection is secure. If the symbol is not present, double check the URL.

Enable 2-Factor Authentication

We highly recommend that all users take advantage of the 2-Factor authentication (2FA) feature we offer. If you don’t have 2FA enabled already, we make sure to remind you each time you log in until you either activate it or specifically tell us to not remind you anymore.

Bear in mind that without 2FA, your password is the only factor of authentication required to access your ChainRift account. Having a second authentication factor makes your account more secure by adding an extra layer of security. You can enable 2FA in just a couple minutes.

Set up an anti-phishing string

You can set up an anti-phishing string or phrase that is unique to you and make sure that all emails related to your ChainRift account have that string. The security string/phrase will appear every time you log in. If it doesn’t appear or the word is different from the one you chose, it means that you have encountered a phishing site or app.

Enable log-in IP verification

You can limit login to your ChainRift account to a single IP address or a list of whitelisted IP addresses. If there is a log-in attempt from another IP address, we will immediately notify you and provide a unique string (you will receive an email) that you need to include the next time you try logging in.

Monitor communications related to your account activity

ChainRift sends you emails for all “actions” related to your account. For example, you receive an email notifying you of each and every successful or failed log-ins, deposits, withdrawals, identity verification requests, and so on. If you receive an email informing you of an action you didn’t take and if you identify suspicious activity, we made it very easy for you to lock your account simply by clicking on a link that is provided in every email you receive from us.

Create a safe password

There are three things that matter when it comes to creating a password: uniqueness, complexity and length.

  1. Your ChainRift password should be different than every other password you use.
  2. Your password should have a mix of characters (uppercase, lowercase, symbols, and numbers) and avoid words straight out of the dictionary.
  3. Your password should be as long as possible, and at least 8 characters.

If your password is something like “12345678”, “passw0rd”, or “letmein”; you’re asking for trouble. Again, we recommend that you never disclose your password to anyone.

ChainRift staff will NEVER ask for your password.

Secure your email address

Your email address is one of the most important links between you and your ChainRift account. So, make sure it is secure! Do NOT use the same password on your email account than the one you use for your ChainRift account. And vice versa. If your email provider offers it, you can activate a 2FA on your email account as well to add an extra layer of security.

About Customer Support

It’s our responsibility to make ChainRift safe but it’s yours to be careful. Fake customer service services are on the rise. ChainRift’s staff will never ask for your password, 2FA codes, or other login credentials. We will never ask you to install remote login or remote support software on your computer.

If anyone claiming to be associated with the ChainRift support team requests this kind of information, you can:

a) insult them
b) troll them
- and immediately contact us.

For sensitive questions about your account or transactions, always open a support ticket. You can always contact us on our Telegram group and we might ask you to open a support ticket for safety reasons. Never send information to someone you’re not 100% sure is part of the ChainRift team. On Telegram, you will find a star mark beside the person’s username. This means they are an admin on our group and you can trust them.

Be careful in establishing communication with random Telegram users.

Better be safe than sorry.
