Welcome to the Patch Work Report where I recap the top 3 performers at each position in fantasy football from the previous week of NFL games. All points are referencing the Chalk Daily Fantasy Sports official scoring rules (here).

Honorable mention: Russel Wilson (32.52), Drew Brees (29.02), Philip Rivers (27.04)

Marcus Mariota: 295 passing yards, 4 passing TDs, 8 rushing yards

The craziest thing about Mariota’s big day was that he did all of that on only 26 pass attempts. To put that into perspective, the third highest scoring QB, Aaron Rodgers, threw the ball 51 times. This offense is incredibly diverse with a rotation of WRs that are all above average, a Pro Bowl TE and one of the best RBs in the league who is also capable of catching 5–10 passes a game. Mariota simply needs to find the wide-open guy (there is one on every play), and get the ball to him.

Ben Roethlisberger: 408 passing yards, 3 passing TDs

The Cowboys have been limiting offenses’ time of possession all season with their “ground and pound” approach. That fact paired with the Steelers embarrassing showing last week in Baltimore, had a lot of people off Big Ben this week. However, there are three laws in life to live by, and those are:

1.) Always say yes to “would you like to super-size that”

2.) Don’t spill water on Gremlins

3.) Roster the Steelers when they are playing at home

Aaron Rodgers: 371 passing yards, 2 passing TDs, 2 INTs, 27 yards rushing, 1 rushing TD

The Packers came out slow and the Titans jumped all over them, getting up 21–0 in the first quarter. This was perfect game script for Rodgers, as the Packers had to give up on the run. He ended the day throwing the ball 51 times and rewarding his owners in the process.

Honorable mention: Ryan Mathews (27.9), David Johnson (27.1) LeGarrette Blount (24.9)

Ezekiel Elliott: 114 rushing yards, 2 rushing TDs, 2 receptions, 95 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD

The rookie continues his impressive campaign by putting his team on his back and leading them to a big win in Pittsburgh. Elliott is quickly going from being considered the best rookie in the league to being considered the best RB in the league. That’s up for debate, but if he continues this production, he will sneak into MVP talks.

Le’Veon Bell: 57 rushing yards, 1 rushing TD, 9 receptions, 77 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD

Bell did his best Ezekiel Elliott impression in the same game, but couldn’t quite match the production. He is the swiss army knife of this team, playing both RB and WR. Because of this he is match-up proof and has the best bet to find the end zone each week in a very potent offense.

DeMarco Murray: 123 rushing yards, 1 rushing TD, 2 receptions, 33 receiving yards, 1 passing TD, 10 passing yards

On paper this was a bad match up for DeMarco, but his day was ballooned by a 75-yard TD early in the game. Outside of that play, he had a relatively average day. When you have a RB with that level of talent though, those big plays can come against any match up. Oh, yeah… he also had a passing TD on a trick play. I guess anyone can throw on the Packers and I mean ANYONE.

Honorable mention: Stefon Diggs (29.4) Allen Robinson (25.7), Odell Beckham Jr. (25.7)

Antonio Brown: 14 receptions, 154 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD

If Big Ben is making the top 3 list, 99% of the time that means Antonio is making the top 3 list. He racked up an incredible 18 targets and made the most of them. Owners were probably a little worry about the TD, which came late in the game on a fake spike play. Better late than never!

Jordy Nelson: 12 receptions, 126 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD

We are starting to see pre-injury Jordy Nelson and it’s a beautiful thing. Rodgers relied heavily on him this week, targeting him 18 times. He should have a tougher outing next week again the Redskins, where I expect Josh Norman to be shadowing him.

Doug Baldwin: 6 receptions, 59 yards receiving, 3 receiving TDs

Doug Baldwin has had a lackluster year so far, but most of that can be attributed to the health of Russell Wilson. This was a perfect spot to break the slump though, as Wilson had reportedly been close to full health and everyone knew the Patriots were going to do whatever it took to take the Seahawks best weapon in Jimmy Graham out of the game. Although the yardage wasn’t there, the three TDs made up for it.

Honorable mention: Martellus Bennett (17.2), Antonio Gates (16.3), Vernon Davis (15.6)

Delanie Walker: 9 receptions, 124 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD

If you have made it this far in the article, you probably noticed a trend. Nearly all the players I have written about come from one of two games, the Packers vs. Titans or the Cowboys vs. the Steelers. These are perfect examples of when you can nail game stacks (multiple players from the same game, ideally a high scoring game), they can be very profitable. As for analysis on Delanie Walker, he’s pretty good.

Cameron Brate: 7 receptions, 84 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD

Finally, someone else besides Mike Evans got some love in this offense. He was the second most targeted player on the Bucs this week, but was by far the most productive. If only we could get some consistency. I wouldn’t get your hopes up though because going into this game Mike Evans was getting 12–15 targets a game and only received 5 against the Bears. I expect him to go back to his normal workload, which should impact Brate’s value.

Kyle Rudolph: 5 receptions, 69 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD

Rudolph has been one of the more consistent TEs all season, which is surprising considering the offense he is a part of. He bounced back nicely from a quiet couple of weeks and its clear he is the number 2 receiver on this team. The problem is, I don’t think that means much.
