Welcome to the Patch Work Report, where I recap the top 3 performers at each position in fantasy football from the previous week of NFL games. All points are referencing the Chalk Daily Fantasy Sports official scoring rules (here).

Honorable mention: Dak Prescott (31.64), Russell Wilson (27.28), Marcus Mariota (26.5)

Tom Brady: 280 passing yards, 4 passing TDs, 12 rushing yards

Well, look who we have here, at the top of the scoreboard once again. Going up against the last ranked 49ers run defense, everyone expected this to be a LeGarrette Blount game, but Touchdown Tommy decided to take matters into his own hands. On wet and slippery day, he carved up the 49ers in his homecoming game, both through the air and on the ground (12 yards rushing is basically a couple of miles for Brady).

Aaron Rodgers: 351 passing yards, 3 passing TDs, 33 rushing yards

Aaron Rodgers is not only the quarterback for this team, but it looks like he has become the running back as well. 33 yards is not much, but he was the leading rusher for the Packers on Sunday. That tells you a lot about the current state of the Packers. For fantasy purposes, it means you can continue to play Rodgers and expect him to finish in the top 5 of scoring almost every week.

Kirk Cousins: 375 passing yards, 3 passing TDs

As mentioned in the highlight last week, going into the game Cousins was 3rd in the league in passing yards and 13th in TDs. I expected him to continue with his yards production, but make a big jump in the TD department. Captain Kirk certainly did not let me down. This guy is good.

Honorable mention: Rashad Jennings (23.9), Lamar Miller (19.3), James White (18.3)

David Johnson: 103 yards rushing, 1 rushing TD, 7 receptions, 57 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD

On a week where everyone was focused on Le’Veon Bell (rightfully so), D.J. reminded people he is just as much of a duel-threat with rushing and receiving. Despite a tough matchup on the road, he ran all over the Vikings defense with ease. Can you imagine what he would have done with a matchup like the Browns?

Le’Veon Bell: 146 rushing yards, 1 rushing TD, 8 receptions, 55 receiving yards

On paper, Bell had the best matchup and the highest projections across the industry. Often in these situations, players don’t meet their lofty expectations. That was not the case. Bell got off to a hot start, nearly exceeding 100 yards in the first quarter, which is great, but that means he dramatically slowed down for the rest of the game. He ended with 34.1 fpts, but realistically owners could have pictured a 50 point day.

Robert Kelley: 137 rushing yards, 3 rushing TDs

Who doesn’t love a new face at the top of the leaderboard? Welcome, Robert Kelley. You most likely won some people a lot of money in DFS this week. In what was a tough matchup, Kelley was very efficient with his touches, averaging 5.7 yards per carry. I think all his owners would have been happy with the performance going into the 4th quarter, but then he added the cherry on top with 2 rushing TDs.

Honorable mention: Julian Edelman (22.9), DeVante Parker (21.9), Rishard Matthews (21.2)

Dez Bryant: 6 receptions, 80 receiving yards, 2 receiving TDs

Since returning from injury 4 weeks ago, Dez Bryant has finished in the top 10 of WRs in 3 of 4 weeks. This past Sunday was a particularly difficult and special day. Just one day after his father’s funeral, Dez played a pivotal part in his team’s win.

Steve Smith Sr: 8 receptions, 99 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD

Father Time’s undefeated record is in jeopardy right now. Despite Steve Smith being 37 years old, he Is still terrorizing secondaries in the NFL. Not to mention he is doing this after coming off a very serious injury last season. Want to know what keeps him going? Just watch the clip below:

Pierre Garcon: 6 receptions, 116 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD

The Washington-Green Bay game was touted to be a shootout, so it was clear someone was going to benefit from all the points. Of Garcon’s 23.6 points, 14 of them came on a single play, which was nice to see, because despite putting up modest numbers recently, Garcon reminded the DFS community of his explosiveness.

Honorable mention: Zach Ertz (15.5), Zach Miller (15.1), C.J. Fiedorowicz (14.2)

Jared Cook: 6 receptions, 105 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD

Yeah, didn’t see that coming. Every single week, it’s a different Packers player leading the charge. Jared Cook, who has been out for most of the season with injuries, stepped up in a big way for Green Bay. They have had little to no production from the TE position, so this is at least a silver-lining from another disappointing loss.

Travis Kelce: 7 receptions, 108 receiving yards

In a low scoring affair, Kelce was able to rise from the ashes with a reasonably productive day. He was a TD away from being the clear-cut number 1 TE on the week.

Eric Ebron: 3 receptions, 70 yards, 1 rushing yard, 1 rushing TD

Ebron got the most out of very little work. He was the most productive player in the Jags-Lions game on just 4 touches. A bit lucky for owners, but it also reminds people how explosive he can be when fully healthy.
