We are changing up the PWR for this week. I am going to be highlighting the top three performers of each position (QB, RB, WR, TE) based on Chalk’s scoring system (here). Let’s get to it.

Honorable Mention: Drew Brees (30.72), Dak Prescott (29.88), Colin Kaepernick (27.22)

Marcus Mariota: 313 passing yards, 3 passing TDs, 2 Interceptions, 14 rushing yards, 1 rushing TD, 1 Fumble

Unfortunately for Marcus, his two turnovers resulted in two very important TDs for the Chargers. Fortunately for fantasy owners, all turnovers count the same no matter what! With the Chargers playing at home, with a high-powered offense, and mediocre defense, it was a perfect spot for Mariota to put up some serious points. He now has 5 games in a row with at least 2 passing TDs and he’s always a threat with his legs. This coming week he’s in an even better spot against the Packers.

Aaron Rodgers: 293 passing yards, 3 passing TDs, 1 interception, 43 rushing yards

What was a modest stat line for Aaron Rodgers, resulted in him being the second highest scoring QB on Sunday. He got all his weapons involved, with 8 different pass catchers and throwing a TD to three different receivers. He even produced some solid yardage on the ground. He has another friendly matchup next week against a mediocre secondary on the Tennessee Titans.

Eli Manning: 257 passing yards, 4 passing TDs, 2 interceptions

We haven’t seen Eli Manning’s name towards the top of the leader board in fantasy points in quite some time. Despite modest yardage, he managed to throw a few long TDs to his very talented receivers. What was most surprising about his day was that he did it against a decent defense. However, in typical Eli fashion, he couldn’t finish the day without a couple of interceptions.

Honorable Mention: Ezekiel Elliot (22.7), Jay Ajayi (22), Frank Gore (21.1)

Melvin Gordon: 32 carries, 196 rushing yards, 1 rushing TD, 4 receptions, 65 receiving yards

I can’t stand this guy. I go against him every week and he continues to put up huge numbers. When I criticized him for not putting up good yardage and only getting some lucky TDs, he goes and drops 261 yards!!! And of course, his mandatory TD. I lost this battle, Melvin Gordon is a stud. For the record, he seems very nice in person as well.

Latavius Murray: 20 carries, 114 rushing yards, 3 rushing TDs, 1 reception, 13 receiving yards

On paper, this seemed like a horrible matchup for anyone on the Raiders offense. However, going into this game, the Broncos had allowed at least 99 yards to enemy RBs for 5 straight games. Latavius carried on the trend, by totaling 127 total yards on a very efficient 21 touches. There was some good fortune with the Raiders finding themselves on the 1 yard line often in this game, but he still had to convert.

Mark Ingram: 15 carries, 158 rushing yards, 1 rushing TD, 2 receptions, 13 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD

Despite the 49ers being the juiciest matchup for opposing RBs, I think people were terrified of playing Ingram after last week’s benching. The fear was justified when Tim Hightower got the start and ultimately out touched Ingram 24 vs. 17. However, Ingram reminded everyone who was the more talented back, by having his best game of the season on limited work.

Honorable Mention: Rishard Matthews (24.3), Jordy Nelson (22.4), Mike Wallace (22.4)

Robert Woods: 10 receptions, 162 receiving yards

The top scoring WR of week 9 (not including Thursday night) was a guy who has been at best a #2 receiver on his team throughout his career, and going up against the Legion of Boom… I am sure everyone saw that coming. Robert Woods had a career night, catching passes all over the field from Tyrod Taylor. I would love to make a “You mad bro?” joke at Richard Sherman, but the Seahawks won anyways.

Golden Tate: 11 receptions, 79 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD, 1 rushing yard

The week of the contrarian continues! The best receiver on the week went up against a top 10 secondary. The 2nd best receiver on the week went up against the 2nd best secondary. Wacky week. Golden Tate was the hero for the Lions by scoring the game winning TD in OT. Better late than never for those who rostered him.

Michael Thomas: 5 receptions, 73 receiving yards, 2 receiving TDs

There is finally a consistent weapon for the Saints. Over the past 5 seasons or so, outside of Jimmy Graham, it’s been Russian roulette figuring out who was going to produce for New Orleans. This year that’s changed with Michael Thomas. He is the only starter with size, so he may not rip off long TDs like Cooks and Snead, but he is the top red zone target for Brees.

Honorable Mention: Zach Ertz (17.7), Vance McDonald (17.4), Eric Ebron (16.2)

Jimmy Graham: 8 receptions, 103 receiving yards, 2 receiving TDs

Jimmy Graham. Jimmy “Frickin” Graham. What a game. He caught, quite literally, everything throw at him. And these weren’t easy, wide open catches. These were one-handed, TD scoring, pass-interference drawing catches.

Jason Witten: 8 receptions, 134 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD

Witten turned back the clock for this game. Don’t believe me? Well, here is a fun fact… this was Witten’s first 100+ receiving yard game since… 2013. Its 2016. I guess everyone looks like a pro bowl player against the Browns. Except for Dez Bryant…(shots fired).

Antonio Gates: 5 receptions, 75 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD
Gates had led the team in targets in the previous 2 weeks leading up to this game, he just hadn’t turned it into significant fantasy production. That changed this week. Despite looking old and slow, he managed to create enough separation to snag a few passes, including his 3rd TD of the season.
