New prompts are published every Wednesday (usually by 2 pm California time.)
ㅤ ㅤYou can sign up for our mailing list by completing this form.

Chalkboard defines a one liner as:

One line, one sentence, one thought. Stringing multiple thoughts together into a run on sentence is only allowed if the piece meets the length requirements.

Submissions to Chalkboard’s one line poem project must:

  • Be between one and thirty words in length.
  • Not be called a prompt in the title or subtitle.
  • Be tagged “One Line” — the other four tags can be anything you want.
If your piece is shorter than 15 words, you may tag it “Chalkboard Espresso”
  • Have an image of at least 900px on at least one side
  • Have an attribution line in the caption for the image
  • Mention the prompt piece for the week.
(Linking to the prompt piece is appreciated.)

By submitting a piece to this project you are committing to having read the rules and agreeing to follow them.

Submissions which are not publication ready will be returned to the author. You will need to find and fix the problems with the piece and resubmit it.

These limits only apply to one line poems being published here on Chalkboard. You are encouraged to share your pieces on other publications or on your own account, whether or not they meet our length requirements.
