Sometime, she said
into the wind, she stirs suddenly yet subtly
any time, he said, any time you wish
she nodded softly, uncertain, not wanting to hurt
he smiled, shifted in his chair, mulled the heat of his cup

her hands found her eyebrows, caressing doubts
he put his cup down, hot to the touch, brushed her strands
she brushed her long hair aside, the cup rose to her lips
and they drank in, some time — of forever
Time passes in circles, the faded gold rings of coffee cup stains
but nothing passes him, of her, nothing he shall forget
— motionless. Not exactly steady, but
endlessly drifting, from past to present, tense
