For ages uncounted, they stood majestic
Clothed in shades of verdant fecund green
Interspersed with sparkling white-blue water
Then, in a fraction of an age, humans came
And stripped them to a sordid dirty brown
Now naked they stand, bare bones showing
Unable to shed even a single solitary stream
