Man said, How do I know heaven exists?
Earth said, Try the seeds from this tree
Man tried to bite it, his tooth hurt
Earth said, You must work to get to heaven
Man scratched his head, pondered awhile
Woman came and threw the seeds in the fire
The scent of the heavens landed on earth
Fire softened the seeds, transformed them
Split husk to reveal glistening warm brown
Nuts, soft as silk, and just as tempting
The aroma wafted strong and smooth, ensnared them both
Man tasted the treat, spat it out Not heaven yet
Woman tsked, Would that ‘twere so easy to find heaven
Leave them to me. Go hunt. Tomorrow they will be better
Heaven is soft as clouds, so I’ll grind the seeds soft
Honey next, to recall sweet heavenly breezes
Seed paste and honey blend into silky perfection
Too much heaven isn’t good for mortals, tiny bites
An explosion of taste engulfs all senses, punch-drunk they reel
Spellbound that so foul a thing could morph so thoroughly
Ecstasy runs warm, down avid tongues and thirsting throats, tantalising
Taste buds, tickling fancies — ensuring addiction strong as breathing
The taste, the smell, settle snugly into both bones and soul
Opening both to new wonders with each heavenly nibble
Pleasure orgasms, until the world falls away into pure light
Heaven attained

This was a delicious collaboration with the amazingly talented, chocolate loving Kathy Jacobs

Endlessly fascinated by how 26 simple symbols can say so much…
