Let us Serenade you this Valentine’s Day

If you’re in the mood for love, have we got a treat for you! (And if you hate this example of consumerism at it’s baldest, now’s your chance to fight back.)

The Serenade project kicked off last week, seeking your ideas of what love might sound like…in words and music. In the true spirit of Chalkboard, we asked for you to find some music you like and write some words to go with it, and then submit your lyrics and recording.

Here are a few of the responses and the mood they’re best suited to:

  • Dreaming of how things used to be? Check out the beautiful and dramatic Stay by Heath ዟ.
  • For something with a bit of bite, see Dewi’s My Sweet Miss.
  • I wrote Awakening for those who are finding the courage to be vulnerable.

We were hoping for a few more submissions, but we understand you might be feeling shy about sharing your voice out loud after so long in the written form.

So we’re giving you a bit more time to find your phrases, with a new deadline of 21 February!

Learn more about the project or listen to everyone’s submissions on Chalkboard: Serenade.

Can’t sing? Not a problem! — Remember, we’re not just looking for crooners and divas. This is for spoken word poetry over music as well!

We hope to hear from you soon!
