hopes and dreams shoved outside by mainstream minds,
into margins,
on the edge
folks pushed,
out.

Push
hate out
instead. Break
the wall. Let there
be knock on their doors, when they deserve it

nullified, agonized, marginalized
invisible
take a pic
harsh laugh
Shoot!

quick
gunshot
death by cop
erased ignored
the powerful forget, we remember

we write the words they can never erase
we bear witness —
violence won’t
silence
us

wild —
a trait
we possess
too. Tell us no,
but from life we learn to love. We will live

The next stanza will invert this form, with syllable counts (10–4–3–2–1). Want to participate? Read the instructions below, and sign up in the linked Google Form. (Don’t submit your stanza as a response to this post!)

This completes this Tetractys Trail. Much thanks to Zev for initiating this cool project. Also Thank you to Ashwini, Sheryl Martin, Kathy Jacobs, Tamyka Bell, & Kinnera Priya Putti for their fantastic contributions!
