Mountains

cascading thoughts.

The mountains call me home,
to where Pacific meets shore,
to where I buried my smile
atop the Grouse peak
long before I fled — I must go back
to see if Science Fiction could be true
and flash frozen mammals can live
after centuries, encased in snow —
that I may be that girl again, to wade
with family through
the glaciers that pool
me to return home,
back to where the Pacific hovers, over
Cascadian mountains.
