Neneth always struggled with her weight. Her coven mates were sympathetic and tried to help with dietary suggestions.

“Eat a bowl of rotten applesauce with every meal,” said Tabitha.

“Add rain-soaked hay to your cereal,” Cassandra advised. “Preferably the sugar-free variety.”

Of course there were advantages to being heavy. She could always be counted on to add the required ballast when the coven traveled through gale force winds. They’d rest in the eye of a hurricane.

Then she met Fabian, the love of her life. She wanted him to find her attractive, so she adopted a strict weight loss diet. Losing weight became an obsession and before long, Neneth was dangerously underweight.

One day, when the sun was shining brightly, she could see her reflection on the wall. She noticed that she was but a shadow of her former self.

She couldn’t stop dieting and eventually Neneth dieted herself to death. On her tombstone, it was written “she was but shadow.”

Indira Reddy , you have been entered to the Hell of the Dead by me. To escape to the Living Hall, you will have to recreate this piece in your own words or extend it as part of the Write or Die collaboration. Failure to comply will leave your name and soul in the Hell of the Dead.

Thanks to Yamini MacLean for tagging me in the Write or Die collaboration:
