Slumber
The Writing Cooperative and Chalkboard Magnet Poetry Prompt
Once I thanked the warm, black night,
wisps of deepest dreams to find
desire in silent lips that dined
and wished on stars and sky and might.
Moments forever in starlit pool
warm as bath water under my feet,
grace my soul a reality sweet,
Sink in pillows hold most cool.
As ghosts, memories drawn, falling,
waiting for dawn to grace my eyes,
blanket in fingers grasped and twined,
to slumber final moments calling.
