Sirens wail, a call of displaced curlews
into the wind, she stirs suddenly yet subtly
her tears meet the sea, salt to salt, human to ocean

precipitated pearls, these sobs now lacing a bride’s newly wedded neck
droplets trace webbing that holds her yet, to her love — their love
white lace flutters in the sea breeze, she takes her first step
stumbling from silence into soliloquy. The lost-at-sea sleep still
endlessly drifting, from past to present, tense
