Performance Challenges in Cloud Computing
Performance is a vital factor while considering cloud applications. Along with higher scalability, mobility, increased accessibility and flexibility that cloud environments provide performance of the cloud operations stands as an important challenge.
The rapid adoption and growth of elements and advancing technology in cloud the holistic performance with agility is a major obstacle. With the growth of number of service providers and the higher dependency of users on cloud even a little latency in service can drive away users and create a decrease in the profits.
The performance challenges can be caused due to ineffective management of the load, that is the traffic to the servers is ineffectively managed or not split, creating a delay. The acquisition of resources and the need should be efficiently managed to sustain the performance.
Users have a clear perception of SaaS performance parameters as response times and throughput for commercial transactions service availability and dependability, as well as the scalability of the system applications.
Users’ perceptions of PaaS performance are characterized by technical transaction response times and throughput, technical service dependability and availability, and middleware scalability.
Infrastructure performance, capacity, dependability, availability, and scalability are all specified as IaaS performance measures.
There is a continuing need for performance monitoring and analysis methodologies to be created as new technologies and middleware platforms emerge, such as distributed file systems, MongoDB databases, Search platforms, and highly heavy systems processing Big Data.
Performance metrics must be gathered, examined, and understood in the context of these new technologies using these monitoring and analytic approaches.
These new technologies and middleware platforms will necessitate new centralized monitoring strategies. The answer is to create new cloud monitoring and management as-a-services, which implies that tool providers will centrally store monitoring data from a large number of customers’ systems, as well as new data analytics options.
