It’s another year!

We would have all greeted the year with some level of optimism.

A scan of online news saw people hopeful that there would be full reconnections with loved ones, who you may not have been able to safely visit during the last two years and a hopefulness that this year would see an improvement in all areas of life.

It’s quite common to make New Year resolutions. However, if you want to experience real change in life, there is the point at which you have to move beyond goals to growth.

Growth signals a different approach in thinking. A change in thinking if you may.

It requires stepping outside the “go with the norm” and stepping out into new experiences.

Growth is somewhat scary because it is different from what is normally done, but to truly live you have to grow.

Growing is not without it’s challenges but as you embrace discovering different experiences it positions you for doing more and being more in your home, community, workplace and wherever else you traverse.

One of the ways I have learnt to grow is saying yes to new experiences.

The customary is convenient, it is safe. However, like a plant that produces fruit, you can’t stay in the shade forever, you must step out into the light. Will you feel like running back to the customary? Of course, but you have to love you and want more for yourself to keep going even when the paths are not the predictable and safe one.

It maybe that you know that the relationship you are in needs to end, but you have never been on your own. So it is scary and uncertain, but deep down you know that you need to just let go and grow.

It could be that you know it is time to leave that organization and launch out on your own. Of course you have to be prepared and so you have prepared some savings to keep you going as you build your clientele.

Everything is aligning itself.

You have been able to secure a physical space to open your business and yet with everything aligning the way you desire. You are still scared to step out.

Here’s the secret, if you keep waiting for not feeling scared, you may never do it!

I once had a mentor who shared this valuable lesson with me — “Do it afraid”!

Embracing change isn’t going to happen overnight, we are creatures of habit. Waiting for that right feeling to come to embark on change is not going to lead to any growth!

It may not be that your growth journey has monumental change like a different career path, or relocating. However, there may be something that you dreamed about doing for so long and the opportunity has now presented itself.

Do it afraid!

I have decided to embark on two major projects this year which I would be sharing with you my reading audience.

It is different, however, just sitting and wishing to do differently hasn’t got me very far. So I step out to embrace and to go, knowing that I would rather do it afraid than not do it at all!

Let nothing stop you…it’s a New Year, Step Out and Up…Do it if even afraid!
