Carlee’s Quick Turnaround

Financial change means different things to different people. For one, it may be sticking to a budget for the first time in eons; for another, it could be meeting savings objectives for a palpable goal. Whatever the reason, users all over the United States are experiencing change thanks to Change. In this series, you’ll get a glimpse of the ways Change has made an impact on the way others think about, and handle, money in their everyday lives.
Today, we bring you the answers of Carlee Carbone, a writer from Millburn, NJ. As many creative professionals know, work may not always be as rewarding financially as it is emotionally. Though not one to spend much on everyday luxuries (“I don’t eat out enough!”), Carlee found herself overdrawn and quickly sprang into damage control mode. Now, she’s gradually learning to adjust to her budget, instead of trying to bend it to her will.
Read all about the wake up call Carlee received from Change, and the subsequent changes she made, below.
Which message do you remember the most?
“My current available balance on a certain morning.”
Why was it interesting to you?
“It showed me that I had a negative balance in one of my accounts. Ah! So I quickly went online and transferred money to avoid an overdraft fee.”
Do you feel a change in your spending behavior?
“Yes. I already cancelled one unnecessary recurring fee that I kept forgetting to cancel.”
Do you feel more aware of your financial status?
“Yes.”
What is your toughest financial challenge at the moment?
“Keeping up with many different dates that I have to pay important bills.”
If you could save money with us, what would you save for?
“My next living situation. Lease ends in a few months and I want to live somewhere pet friendly and in a nice area!”
Housing is one of the most common savings goals out there, and for good reason. We trust Carlee’s on the right track to finding that #dreamhome where she can raise as many furry friends as she likes. Here’s one last money-saving tip: adopt, don’t shop!
