Divide & Conquer: Anuraj Evaluates Each Spending Category on its Own
Financial change means different things to different people. For one, it may be sticking to a budget for the first time in eons; for another, it could be meeting savings objectives for a palpable goal. Whatever the reason, users all over the United States are experiencing change thanks to Change. In this series, you’ll get a glimpse of the ways Change has made an impact on the way others think about, and handle, money in their everyday lives.
Remember your (starving) student days? Well, Anuraj Rajesh is about to remind you. Anuraj is a B.Sc. Computational Neuroscience student at the University of Southern California, making his first steps in the adult-budgeting world and gradually learning just how far money can stretch. As an amateur rapper, it’s very possible he will soon have no need for budgets (we’re pretty sure rap superstardom comes with built-in mega yachts) but in the meantime, before he makes it big, he’s weighing his steps and proceeding with caution.
But why take our word for it?
Which message do you remember the most?
“I remember the message regarding my top spending category.”
Why was it interesting to you?
“I found this message interesting because prior to this, I did not think to look at which categories I spend most of my money in. After receiving this message, I have started tracking my spending in different categories.”
Do you feel a change in your spending behavior?
“Yes, I believe my spending behaviour has changed to reflect cutting costs for wants and spending more on my needs.”
Do you feel more aware of your financial status?
“I do feel more aware of my financial status thanks to the frequent updates that Change provides me, in regard to my bank account balance.”
What is your toughest financial challenge at the moment?
“Learning how to save money and control my spending.”
If you could save money with us, what would you save for?
“I would save for a trip that I could take during one of my spring breaks at university!”
Before you take up an extra shift to fund all that sun tan lotion for Spring Break (we recommend Miami), give Auto-Saving an honest try. Anuraj, you’re an up-and-coming scientist so you understand the power of trying different hypotheses: Well, we hypothesize that you could be saving 10% more than you currently do, without even noticing it. Best case scenario: We get you to that sandy beach with some peace of mind in your back pocket. Worst case scenario: You saved just as much as you currently do, and not a penny more. Not a bad deal, huh? Be sure to credit us at the end of the rap video you plan to shoot on Spring Break.
