Change Research and Crooked Team Up for Unprecedented Insight on American Voters

June 25, 2019, Los Angeles, CA — Crooked Media, the progressive media company behind Pod Save America, and Change Research, the modern, data science-driven approach to public opinion research, are teaming up to offer unprecedented insight about Democratic voters through the 2020 election cycle.

“Polling should be about more than just the horserace, which is why we’re excited to work with Change to dig deep on what voters really care about and what they’re looking for in a candidate,” said Jon Favreau, a founder of Crooked Media. “We also plan to ask some fun, outside-the-box questions that will tell us something new while also feeding our incurable polling addiction.”

Kicking off the “PollerCoaster 2020” collaboration is a Crooked Media/Change Research poll of early Democratic primary states to be released on June 25 in advance of the June 26–27 Democratic primary debates, with a post-debate poll to follow. Ten additional polls curated by the Crooked Media team and conducted by Change Research will be released over the coming year.

Reaching beyond the leaderboard, the Crooked/Change polls will feature insightful questions aimed at surfacing voters’ evolving thoughts, fears, hopes, and excitement about our political time. Combining the insights made possible by surveying tens of thousands of voters weekly, the Crooked/Change polls will feature new tech that both explores American voters’ sentiments at scale and offers insider data to back up Crooked commentary.

From testing which messages and creative approaches are most successful with voters, to trends that are emerging among millennials, to natural language processing of open ended questions, Crooked Media’s programming will be infused with data insights that only a modern data science approach public opinion research can deliver.

“To deeply understand what is happening in our democracy, there is no better place to turn than Crooked Media and their shows that entertain, inform, and inspire action,” said Change Research Co-Founder and Chief Growth Officer Pat Reilly. “We couldn’t be more proud to use the work Change Research does every day with data science and fast, accurate polling. Together, we’ll tell the story of 2020 with data and voters’ voices from across the US.”

About Crooked Media

In 2016, a sane conversation about politics was most needed but hardest to find. Cable news panels, you may have noticed, are not the best. Twitter is a great place to slowly lose your mind. Everywhere, the work of excellent journalists competes with clickbait, fake news, and whatever Donald Trump is tweeting about. We need a better conversation about politics in this country. That’s why we launched Crooked Media — to talk about politics in a way that doesn’t make you want to throw your phone out the window — with shows and analysis and other forms of sweet, sweet content that inform, entertain, and inspire action. No, we’re not unbiased, we’re not always serious and we’re certainly not always right. But we promise a no-bullshit conversation about politics and culture where you can laugh, cry, scream, ridicule us daily, share your ideas, and hopefully decide that you want to help fix this mess too. That’s it. End of mission.
