My Simple Four-Word Job Description
The plaque above sits on a shelf in my office and I look at it and absorb it everyday! Sort of like the Notre Dame sign that the football players tap on the way out to the field — it is my way of reminding myself how I can be of best use to the company. It’s a four-word job description that reads
Inspire. Vision. Align. Coach
That’s how I aspire to spend my days here at MegaFood. Let’s break them down:
INSPIRE — The company looks to me for energy & inspiration. It is my job to stay inspired by what we are doing here at MegaFood and to make sure the company (along with our customers and stakeholders) knows just how much I love our mission and my job. If I am doing it well then the entire company will benefit. If my energy is down, then that can trickle throughout the company. If I am tired from a long trip or angry due to some disappointment then the folks around me can pick up that vibe and spread it like the common cold. The key is that if I can stay above the line in very tough situations — keeping everyone focused on the bigger picture — we can weather any storm.
