We are looking for an amazing individual to help us in our quest to find and back ambitious Baltic founders. While it has been a wild ride for Yrjo, Rait and myself to source, close and manage investments on our own, now is the time for us to start building a bigger team. We want to bring on board an associate or analyst who could support the partners. We are deliberately vague on experience required, as team fit and attitude is more important than specific seniority. What we need is someone who has strong analytical skills and a sharp mind, with an entrepreneurial attitude as well as the ability to connect with founders and to manage their time and tasks relatively independently.

Join this team!

During the past five years I have been actively engaged with founders in Lithuania. Our venture partner Vytautas Kubilius and advisor Justas Janauskas as well as the rest of the Lithuanian community has been very supportive in sending us investment opportunities. But we would ideally like to add a full time Lithuanian speaker to the team. We will look at Latvian candidates also if we cannot find the right candidate in Lithuania.

Why is this a great opportunity? Well, you will get to participate in the growth of the first seed fund operating across all three Baltic states and to help source and guide our investment decisions and help manage our portfolio. As a new fund, we are a startup ourselves with many opportunities to improve and expand what we do as well as how we do it. There will be ample opportunities to take the initiative and drive growth. You will work closely with the investment partners and learn first-hand how pre-seed and seed investments are sourced, closed and managed.

Location & travel:

  • Lithuania, working remote from a co-working space, supporting all three investment partners. Once the Covid-19 pandemic subsides, expect regular travel to Tallinn and Riga to meet the rest of the investment team.

Responsibilities:

  • Investment deal sourcing
  • Perform market research to help identify new investment opportunities
  • Call and meet with founders, evaluate opportunities, summarize and communicate to partners
  • Network with startup ecosystem
  • Due Diligence on investments before and after term sheet issued
  • Gather information from the startup and industry experts
  • Gather market data from online research
  • Research and talk to references and customers of the target company
  • Research and talk with technical/business consultants to evaluate the target company’s technology and intellectual property
  • Prepare internal investment memos together with partners including arguments for and against an investment decision
  • Assist in coordination of legal, technical and business due diligence
  • Post-investment portfolio company management
  • Participate in board meetings, company updates and help support the on-going needs of portfolio companies
  • Gather operational updates from portfolio companies to communicate internally and to our investors
  • Prepare reports to various institutions as well as advance the reporting back-end
  • Marketing, research, events & communications
  • Maintain and update data in our Baltic Startup Funding Report database
  • Manage preparation and distribution of marketing communications including email newsletters, blogs and social media posts
  • Organize and support organization of various events such as speaking opportunities at conferences, founder meetups, or our annual portfolio summit.

Requirements:

  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working with spreadsheets and business strategy concepts. This could be based on an undergraduate or graduate degree in business, economics or finance, or prior roles in data analysis, finance or consulting. No prior venture capital experience is necessary.
  • 1–2 years of experience in business. Startup experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred. Top universities a plus.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and proactive personality.
  • Ability to build strong personal relationships with founders and credibly represent Change Ventures as a brand.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.

Compensation: competitive, based on experience and seniority
