“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, ‘What! You too? I thought I was the only one.’” — C.S. Lewis, an author and scholar

Making friends as an adult can be challenging compared to when we were younger.

When we get older, our lives become more structured, there’s more focus on work, there is less free time to meet new people in social settings, and more time is spent with family.

As a result, we have less time and fewer opportunities to make friends.

Furthermore, many adults already have well-established social circles, we fear rejection and judgment, and we have fewer occasions to refine our social abilities, leading to social anxiety or discomfort.

On top of this, friendships require good timing, communication, and compatibility.

So, how to find and cultivate friendships as an adult?

It starts by being authentic, true to yourself, and putting yourself out there. You must let connections develop naturally and invest time and effort into building connections. Be open-minded and try to be more social, and you can create meaningful friendships.
