Why do we live? What is the meaning of life? These are eternal questions to which I have no answer. But what about the following question:

What is your life purpose?

It’s a good question that people start to ask at an early age. And sometimes people think about it all the way to old age. It’s not an easy question to answer. Perhaps that’s why it gets its philosophical coloring.

The whole problem with this question is that it is complex. What does that mean?

It means that there is no single answer. This question consists of a group of steps. When you sort them all out, you will get your long-awaited answer. But let’s get to the point.

1. What do you like to do?

Your purpose hides behind what you love. Remember that the most motivated people do what they love. Bill Gates likes computers, Oprah Winfrey wants to help people, and Edison prefers to invent something new.

What do you like to do? Do you want to read, write, or play sports? Or maybe you enjoy singing, drawing or cooking? What do you think about business, sales, or communications? Screw all that because you like to repair things.

No matter what you like, remember that your life purpose will have a connection to your favorite thing to do.

2. What do you do in your leisure time?

What you do in your leisure time will help you determine your purpose in life. It seems like this point is identical to the previous one about what you like to do. But it’s not. It completes it.

You can like different things, some today and others tomorrow. But if you not only want to draw but also draw in your leisure time, then it is a sign. After all, when you subconsciously choose to draw instead of watching another TV series, it means that you love it.

Be sure to think about what you do in your leisure time or what you would like.

3. What do you pay attention to?

The seller can easily see whether the product will be in demand or not. The hairdresser will undoubtedly pay attention to a person’s hair appearance. And the mechanic will be able to tell only by the sound of the machine whether it has malfunctioned or not.

What do you pay attention to? Also, what annoys you? All of your answers will be the signs that will help you determine your life purpose. After all, when you go to work, and you’re constantly paying attention to the exact things, it’s for a reason.

4. How much do you practice new beginnings?

Malcolm Gladwell, the author of five New York Times bestsellers, once said,

“If you practice one skill for 10,000 hours, you’ll have a good chance at becoming an expert at it.”

Whether this is true or not, we will not check today. But we can draw another conclusion from Malcolm’s words.

After practicing for 10,000 hours, you’ll know for sure if this is your calling.

The message is not about the hours spent doing something. The point is that any beginning needs time to take off. And if you don’t give it that time, how are you going to know if it’s your calling?

Final Thoughts

Why do we live? What is the meaning of life? These are the questions I began this story with. As before, I don’t have an answer. But let’s imagine for a moment that the answer is a search.

Don’t be afraid that you won’t be able to find your purpose right away. Keep searching. You should fear that you will give up and stop looking for it. If you give up, you won’t be able to find your purpose.
