I’ll try to keep this as short as possible. And I will be punchy. If it comes out to you as harsh, don’t take it personally. This is for the good of all writers everywhere.

I know right now, we have inflation in most parts of the world. The costs of food, housing, transportation, energy, etc., are skyrocketing. And this is not a North American thing though. It’s not only happening in the US and Canada. It is worse in other places.

I have seen the price of a loaf of bread quadruple in less than 2 years on the other side of the Atlantic. So, this hits everybody, including the rich. In fact, it is worse for the rich. What used to be a 10-million-dollar lifestyle 20 years ago is now a 50-million-dollar lifestyle. But they can’t complain out loud like the middle class.

What’s worse is that jobs are shrinking. Many companies are downsizing their staff strength. AI is fast replacing a lot of capabilities. This AI thing particularly hits writers.

First, things are getting expensive. Next, you don’t have access to as many opportunities as before because of AI. Everybody now feels they can do your job with an AI tool. So, what gives?
