Confession time: I stopped reading the news five years ago.

I know — crazy, right?

Back in 2020, my mornings started the same way: wake up, grab my phone, check COVID stats. Sweden. Germany. The world. Case numbers, death tolls, new restrictions — I knew it all before even getting out of bed.

It felt like control.

But in reality, it was an addiction.

The more I read, the worse I felt. Tight chest. Racing thoughts. A constant sense of doom.

The world was on fire, and I was fueling the panic in my own mind.

So, I stopped reading the news. Completely.

Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for my mental peace and happiness.

But I didn’t check out completely. I still stay informed — just in a way that doesn’t leave me anxious and paralyzed.
