Do you veer towards optimism or pessimism?

Audit your thoughts and emotions for a day and see what you discover.

This exercise may be more important than you realize because your mindset influences your health and happiness.

According to Harvard Health, positive emotions are linked to:

  • Better health outcomes
  • Increased well-being
  • A longer life

Optimism has also been associated with lower stress and increased resilience to stress as well.

Whereas, chronic anger, worry, and hostility increase your chances of developing heart disease.

An entire branch of psychological research called “positive psychology” has devoted itself to studying the character strengths and behaviors that lead to a more satisfying and meaningful life.

Optimism doesn’t mean living in denial. A positive outlook must contain a dose of realism too. But in most cases, it pays to look at the bight side.

“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a downcast spirit dries up the bones.” — Proverbs 17:22
