Sometimes all it takes is a few words
There’s a place I go to sometimes.
It’s at the end of a long beach in Mexico.
It’s perhaps a 5 or 6km walk.
At the end of the beach, there’s a large rocky outface that stretches out into the ocean. Liquid waves crash against solid rock and energy disperses as the two collide.
My destination is on the other side, just out of sight.
I begin to patiently count the sequence of waves as they roll in.
One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Seven.
A set of waves comes in 7’s, with one being the smallest and seven being the biggest.
So, I wait until wave number seven has passed before springing into action. I move across the rocks with a sense of serene urgency, still watching the waves with an eager eye.
One. Two. Three. Four…
By wave number 5, I’m across, and I jump ecstatically onto the soft, smooth sand below.
And then there it is.
A perfectly still and private lagoon located in a bay very few people know exists. And all the time in the world to enjoy its beauty.
