All It Takes Is a Little Rain
All it takes is a little rain for my worries and anxiety to slowly melt away. The sound of each drop as it hits the window slowly chips away at the tension built up within me. One drop makes me forget about all of the research I should be doing. The next makes me forget how many calories I ate today. Another tells me what I did today is enough.
The house begins to darken, casting shadows around the room. The earthy scent of fresh rain and damp coolness hangs in the air, and there is a certain stillness that is only felt when it rains. As if the world just had to rest for a moment. I always feel the urge to pause when it rains; there is something alluring and contemplative about the way it transforms my mood and my environment.

Something about the rain reveals us to ourselves. Sometimes it covers us like a warm blanket, and we settle into a cozy dream-like state of relaxation. Other times it slowly creeps in and it feels like ice in our veins, reminding us of how lonely or worried we feel. It stirs our emotions, and they are often emotions we didn’t even realize we were harboring inside us.
