I have been fascinated by the Okinawans for a long time.

Their lifestyle isn’t out of the ordinary — but they hold many secrets which keep them extraordinarily healthy — leading them towards a longer and more fulfilling life.

In case you didn’t know, Okinawa is an island in the East China Sea, which is well known worldwide for being the leader in longevity. They are also referred to as Okinawa being the ‘land of immortals.’

The Japanese archipelago is one of the world’s blue zones, with the highest number of centenarians.

These people live between 100 and more years old and are also in good health — which has researchers stumped for answers and how we can adopt these same principles.

I was not surprised that Japan’s oldest people signify their longer and more healthy life because of the following things;

  • Eating a plant-based diet.
  • Attend to their garden regularly
  • Having a purpose in their lives
  • Maintain personal connections with others
