Going Down to Come Up

In John Blofeld’s worshipful book In Search of the Goddess of Compassion, he writes on Kuan Yin, Tara, Amida — but never mentions his own mother.*
He quotes the Lotus Sutra:
“Therefore should the mind be constantly fixed on her.”
I suggest it should read “on her as Her.” Otherwise, reaching Up without earthly foundation, we tend to become ungrounded.
It seems that, as so many body therapists teach, we need to go down to come up.
