How Do Teens Feel About Their Phones and Screen Time?

All teens love everything about their phones, right?
Anybody who has ever tried to ban cell phones at the middle or high school level knows that teens are very reluctant to give up their phones.
But that doesn’t mean that all teens unequivocally love their phones and want more screen time than they’re getting. According to new research and polls, many teens have a more complex relationship with their smartphones and technology than most people might think.
How many teens have phones, and how do they use them?
Almost all Americans have phones (97%), and the number of teens who “have access to” smartphones has also risen sharply over the past decade (to 97% of teens) as well. Smartphone use worldwide is also widespread, and is expected to reach 7.12 billion phone users by the end of 2024.
Studies in America have also found that most kids report getting their first cell phone by the average age of 11.6 years, and that, by the age of 15, nearly every teen owns a phone.
