Your real power is in the shadows you keep suppressing
Shadows… We are not on good terms with our dark sides. How can it be good? We think they don’t define us. We are so afraid of seeing our weaknesses. We exaggerate, we wear masks. We wear glasses with black lenses to hide our gaze from those around us and to hide our desperation. As we run away from our shadows, our darkness grows bigger. Our potential is lost. As we lose our essence, we complain about how meaningless life is. Because we cannot find meaning in ourselves.
Until a year ago, I was very far from understanding my shadow's behaviors. Until I became interested in psychology and started reading Carl Jung’s archetypes, I only knew shadow as a reflection of the sun. But just like our shadow in the sun that always follows us, there were also behaviors that followed us throughout our lives. We don’t even know about some of these behaviors. Because we obstruct. We push it deep.
In this article, by explaining how I found my shadow directions, I invite you to follow your shadow. Let’s not forget to remember that not everything will be bright on the journey of finding ourselves and healing.
