How I’m Decluttering My Life This Spring
Last summer, I spent six days in Noci, Italy, with nothing but a backpack filled with essentials.
It was one of the most freeing experiences of my life. With only the things I truly needed, everything felt simple, easy, and intentional. My space was always clean, resetting it at the end of the day took no effort, and I never had to waste mental energy deciding what to wear, what to use, or what to do with clutter.
That experience got me thinking about my current living situation — how much I own and how little of it I actually need. Like many people, I’ve held onto things “just in case,” or because someone gave them to me years ago, and I feel guilty letting them go.
This spring, I’m approaching decluttering in a radical yet practical way: I’m pretending that in two months, I’m moving to the other side of the world. If that were my reality, what would I bring with me? If I could only take five suitcases, what would make the cut?
