How My Emotional Problems Made Me FAT & Hateful

--

Remember, ‘They are just cookies, they are not love.’

I remember watching one of the most popular TV series, FRIENDS when one of the characters says to Monica, who used to be fat, that, ‘They are just cookies, they are not love.’

I didn’t understand the meaning back then. I didn’t understand a lot of funny anecdotes from the series so I never really bothered about it.

Though, as I started reading more, and studied psychology, I did come across the concept of ‘emotional eating’ a lot of times. I didn’t understand, at first, why someone would eat when facing emotional turmoil. I thought it didn’t make sense.

But then, as Shakespeare said, “Well, everyone can master a grief but he that has it.”

I am a little ashamed to admit that for so long, I thought emotional eating didn’t really exist or maybe, I never truly understood what it meant. But you begin to see, feel, and believe when it happens to you the moment you go through the same things that you thought were just an excuse that people use to defend their choices.

How I Started to EAT My Way Out of Problems:

“What do you do today that you think is ‘unlikely’ of you yet you can’t stop?”
