Most of the time we live our lives from outside to in which creates tension and confusion — let me explain how this happens and how to live in joy.
The way human beings are conditioned is that we tend to live our lives from outside to in. In other words, our senses, touch, sight, hearing, taste and smell, are constantly feeding our minds with stuff they pick up from the outside world and forcing them to decide what to do about the information they gather. This means that we are constantly being bombarded with information, most of which does nothing to enhance our existence but which we still have to process.
This behaviour has been embedded in our DNA since our ancestors came down from the trees. They needed to be aware of everything happening in their environment to protect themselves from predators. But, in today’s world, this flood of information serves no useful purpose. It overloads our mind and keeps it in an over-active state because it has to process the information constantly.
You spend loads of time and energy using your mind to process primarily useless information. And your default mode is to continue doing this unless you do something about it.
