How to use Patience to Improve your Life
This particular virtue is one of the most important tools for mental health.
At different times in my life, I’ve made some bad decisions when letting impatience get the best of me, just because I had to be doing or planning something. In quite a few of those situations, if I’d done nothing and just gone about my business, things would have turned out better. Regarding the rest, if I’d given it a day or two to cool off, I would probably have made a better choice.
Let it be
After I freed myself from those impulsive thoughts, that I used to think of as control, good things started happening. I worked on learning to quit thinking about the future in a worrisome way, at the same time getting out of the rumination rut, which can take a big toll on both our physical and interpersonal health. I took action to develop real faith that all will be as good as it can, and either way I’ll be satisfied and happy from the inside out.
What helped me most in this thought metamorphosis was regular sessions of guided meditation and hypnosis.
