I Spoke to My BD Director About Career & Retirement. His Thinking Is “Refreshing”.
A strange 54 years old
I annoy people by asking questions.
On career. On future. On money. On retirement planning.
I do so because it helps me expand my narrow perspectives of what could be. Having boots on my legs injected reality into my thinking.
Retirement and career at its tail end continue to hog my attention. I am in my early 40s. Naturally, I am concerned about life in the late 40s and early 50s.
What is it like?
And this time, I learned a [hell] lot from one Bohemian 54.
My career senior by 14 years / a Senior BD Director
Phillippe is his [real] name.
Strangely, we forgot all about it. Free was his name to us. He was happy to adopt that name. I think it speaks to his soul. He is a happy guy, free of woes.
Or at least, that is how we see him.
Free is one of those rare ones whom I have met, and at age 54, who is calm about his career [the lack thereof] and retirement. Many 54s I speak to carry the weight of retirement fears on their shoulders. It is written all over their wrinkles.
