I’d Never Imagined We Could Be Out-of-Touch While at Work for 20 Years. I’m… Wowed.

This is beyond me

In truth, I couldn’t believe my eyes.

I was on my way to the finance department. Earlier today, I received an email about APAC’s financial statements. Discrepancies were identified. Clarifications were required.

That email came stapled with a High Importance exclamation mark, so I got my legs to ferry me and my laptop to Stacy’s desk.

I am meeting her for the first time. She got transferred here only recently.

And the swaying stacks of paper at her desk… stunned me.

3 skyscraper paper towers

It didn’t take long for me to identify Stacy’s desk.

It is that desk with 3 paper skyscrapers and with no one. Of course. When I said no one, I meant I saw no one. Stacy was behind those paper skyscrapers. Everyone else was visible and within line of sight.

Jennifer used to handle my accounts before handing my books to Stacy. She looked up, saw me, and smiled. I waved my hand, smiled, and said hi.

She used the pen [in her hand] to point me to Stacy.
