If you google the meaning of the word meta, you will come across names such as transcending.

Meta comes from the Greek prefix and preposition meta, which means “after” or “beyond.” which signifies change.

What does the META strategy mean in habits change?

META is a combination of 4 strategies of change. What is common across the 4, is a mindful change journey where one moves from mindfulness to mindlessness; from decision-making to not making any decision.

Change always begins by making the unconscious conscious, before converting the desirable habits into auto-pilot mode.

I used the abbreviation META to help you simplify the process. The four strategies under META are:

  • Mindful act of Monitoring your existing habits
  • Mindful act of observing your Environment or cues
  • Mindful act of making your habits Tiny
  • Finally, Automating your chosen habits
