Mindset Shifts You Need to Do to Achieve Your Goals
Protect your time, not all thoughts are created equal, and being uncomfortable is good.
Are you having trouble achieving your goals?
Do you feel that you have done a lot of things during the day, but feel that you haven’t moved closer towards the life you desire?
No worries, I understand how you may feel. I believe that as humans, we may struggle from time to time.
However, through the years, I have learned that to make progress in life, it all starts with how you think and where do you invest your energy.
Also, I have experienced different mindset changes that have helped me make progress in my life.
Thus, I wanted to share these lessons with you. They may help you.
Your Time And Energy Are Precious
Many times in my life, I have been in reaction mode. That is, I would do things during the day as they would come up.
Moreover, I would not have any intention behind the things I did during the day. I was always reacting to what happened during the day.
As a result, at the end of the day, I would feel that I didn’t accomplish anything.
To fix this problem, I started to shift my focus and energy towards the things I wanted to accomplish in my life. Furthermore, I began to think about my time and energy differently. That is, I started to value them more.
I started to become more intentional with my actions and the things I did during the day. I committed to only invest my time and energy in the things that helped me progress in my life.
So, I cut off all the negativity and distractions. Consequently, I started to see progress in my life.
Here are some things I did to help me focus on what I want, that you can do too:
- Set reminders on your phone with the things you want to do.
- Use a planner.
- Write down in your journal about your day and reflect on it.
- Listen to positive, encouraging podcasts or audiobooks.
- Set boundaries with your time.
By setting reminders on your phone, you can use these reminders when you are falling off track during the day. You may have focused on talking to a co-worker or spending time on social media.
So, these reminders may pop up so you can get back to focus on what you want.
Something I have done when using reminders on my phone is to set them at various times during the day. I would set some at the times where I am often less productive.
To know these times, you can study yourself and your behaviors during the day.
How to Increase Productivity — Study Yourself
It all starts with self-awareness, keeping a productivity journal, and identifying the less productive time blocks.
Now, by journalling your day, you can see where you are wasting your time and energy. Hence, you can shift your focus to where it serves you the most.
On the other hand, setting boundaries with your time may help you protect it from distractions that hinder your productivity.
You can set boundaries in your environment, like closing the door to your office when working on an important task or even letting know people that you are unavailable at certain hours of the day.
Not All Thoughts And Ideas Are Created Equal
The second mindset shift I have learned is that all thoughts are not created equal in our minds. That is, some thoughts are more positive than others.
So, I started to focus on the positive thoughts in my life. The more I did this, the better I invested in my time, and I was more productive. Moreover, I started to focus on the most rewarding thought each time in my day.
This idea I learned from Dr. Pillai’s YouTube video “Watch Your Thoughts | How to Control Your Thoughts and Succeed in Life.”
He discusses the importance of monitoring your thoughts. Moreover, he talks about identifying the most rewarding thought for the day. Instead of focusing on the thoughts that don’t serve you, focus on the ones that help you the most.
What is the most rewarding thought you can think for today?
This has helped me a lot because it has allowed me to change my mindset and identify the thought that helps me the most in my life. Thus, I have become more mindful of what I think and focus on.
Here are some ways you could use this technique:
- Monitor your thoughts.
- Identify the thoughts that help you the most.
- Follow rewarding thoughts and inspirations.
By monitoring your thoughts, you may be able to separate the thoughts and ideas that aren’t helping you succeed.
Like Dr. Pillai discusses in his video, you can identify the most rewarding thought in different areas of your life. This can be in health, wealth, and finances.
Once you have identified these productive thoughts, then you can follow them to reach manifest the positive result in your life.
Being Uncomfortable Is Good
The third mindset shift I have made in my life is to view the feeling of uncomfortable differently.
Before I made this mindset shift, I used to think that when I felt uncomfortable, it was a bad thing. Hence, I started to resist this feeling.
However, now I view this feeling as a sign that I am growing as a person. Also, I have learned that change is good. Sure, it may be scary, but change is good for our lives.
It may help us step out of our comfort zones and realize that we are stronger than we might think. So, it may help to deal with change in a productive way.
How To Deal With Change In A Productive Way
What to do when you feel stress and fear about changes in your life.
Here are some ways I have learned to change my mindset towards being uncomfortable:
- Do one different thing every day.
- Talk to a stranger.
- Embrace the feelings of being uncomfortable.
I noticed in my life that I tend to fall into a routine. Thus, I start doing things the same way each time. For instance, I began to take the same route home every day, ate at the same restaurants, and went to the same stores. I noticed that these things made me feel comfortable.
Hence, when I did things a different way, I started to feel a little uncomfortable. I was feeling uncomfortable because I was stepping out of my comfort zone.
However, I started doing one thing differently every day, even the small ones, and I started to welcome the feeling of being uncomfortable. At first, it felt weird, but as I kept repeating the process, I began to get used to it.
So, by doing one thing different every day, you may start embracing change in your life.
Now, embracing the feelings of being comfortable may help you have a positive and welcoming attitude towards these feelings, instead of resisting and fighting them. You can use these feelings as teachers to guide you to grow as a person. Also, to look at these feelings as friends, not enemies.
Because at the end of the day, these feelings may come, so the idea is to try to use them in the most productive way possible.
To accomplish your goals, you need to change your mindset to a one that serves you the most. First, your time and energy are precious, so you need to value, be intentional where you invest your time and energy.
Thus, by being more intentional with your time, it may help you achieve your goals.
Now, by acknowledging that you have negative and thoughts during the day, you can start being deliberate and identify the most rewarding ideas in different areas of your life.
Then, you can start focusing on these rewarding and productive thoughts.
Lastly, by changing your perspective on being uncomfortable, you can start embracing these feelings when pursuing your goals.
