I call them the anti-happy retirees. Sounds weird? Yes. Just like anti-heroes in comics, they aren’t the genuine bad guys.
But they have a different mode of thinking that made them non-baddies, non-heroes.
William is one of those anti-happy retirees.
He should be happy. He should. William spent decades planning for his retirement and [actually] had the money to do so by 58. This should be a happy ever after.

The first one is a money plan.
This plan got him through decades of painful spending below his means, saving above his means, and riding the stock market even when Big Market Bears popped by for a visit.
