Mother’s Day. A day to commemorate the mother of the family, motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. Today is the day. At least for me.

Mother’s Day is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world. The most common in the modern era would be on the second Sunday of May and is the most widely celebrated version in the world.

It began in the United States in 1908. Anna Jarvis sought to commemorate Mother’s Day as a recognized holiday to honor her mother, Ann Reese Jarvis. It has been more than a century since then. In that period of time, things change. The people, the way of life, everything. A century is a long time. What may have started as an innocent and simple tribute has grown into an abomination. Mother’s Day has become too commercialized.

On any side of the world, you would find anything and everything revolved around the theme during this period of time. Restaurants offering extravaganza meal sets, florist offering different bouquets of flower…
