Photography as Inspiration
Never Forget What Brings You Joy
All my life I have been an observer.
An observer of things, of people, of landscapes, particularly — of color and light. I received my first camera as a gift when I was in my teens a joy that inspired my love of photography that continues to this day.
This love led me to a summer class at the Rhode Island School of Design to study black and white photography and develop photos in a darkroom. RISD summer after my sophomore year in high school was an immersive program that opened up a world of photographic adventure for me journeying to the neatest places to shoot images, stills, people — all in the backdrop of Providence, Rhode Island.
I’ll never forget that summer, the experiences I had, the people I met. I still have some of the photos I developed and, as many people can attest to, working with film vs. digital was a uniquely different experience.
As I grew older, my passions led me in other directions. I did not choose a career as a photographer. I went on to become a business strategist and executive advisor leading strategic initiatives and go-to-market business…
