Robert, Age 55, Spoke About His Retirement Struggles During Our Interview. I’m Sad.
When health and wealth get discounted by life…
This encounter and conversation landed on my lap.
I did nothing to seek this conversation. I met Robert in an interview just 2 days ago and reviewed his CV the night before. He had stellar credentials.
And oh. An MBA, too.
Now, that’s strange.
We had scheduled interviews for an Inside Sales role. This job is highly administrative and comes with a modest compensation. It’s one of those ‘Get things done and go home’ jobs.
This 1 opening attracted 250+ applications.
And Robert is one of them.
Bob’s CV stood out
Isabelle, my Gen Z rebel, was the one who noticed Bob’s CV.
“Boss, you have a fellow old man applying for this job. Do you want to meet him first?”
She sounded [incredibly] rude in her email. I rolled my eyes. But her message caught my attention. A fellow old man? How old could he be?
I indulged my curiosity and clicked on his CV & resume attachment.
