The most powerful action comes from sitting still.

In the words of the poet Rumi:

“When I run after what I think I want, my days are a furnace of distress and anxiety. If I sit in my own place of patience, what I need flows to me, without pain.”

These words carry a profound truth — that sometimes, in the relentless pursuit of our desires, we can create unnecessary turmoil within ourselves. The world often tells us to keep moving forward, to chase our dreams at all costs, to take non-negotiable action, and to optimize our productivity. However, there’s wisdom in stillness and patience.

Consider this: What you seek is not always found in the chase.

In the quiet moments of reflection and patience, we often discover that what we want is perhaps something far simpler — something closer than we realize, whose footprint can be traced back to inside of us; a unique idea planted within us by the great mystery of life itself.

Rumi continues by saying:

“From this, I understand that what I want also wants me, is looking for me and attracting me. There is a great secret in this for anyone who can grasp it.”
