The Essence of Life is the Joy of Living it
I think sometimes we forget how beautiful life is. There are a lot of bad things happening in the world. The media never ceases to remind us of this. At the same time, we are responsible for our own actions. So, we shouldn’t let others tell us what we don’t want to hear.
Remember those days when you played outside from morning until evening? What about that trip with your father in which you understood how important is not to give up what makes you happy? Or that first kiss of your future wife or your future husband.
Let’s not forget the moment when you were genuinely proud of yourself after you managed to offer your parents that unforgettable trip. Or the moment when you and your grandmother enjoyed that delicious ice cream on that hot summer day.
Life is unpredictable, but that’s precisely what makes it beautiful. It’s not easy, it’s true, but I am sure that each one of you has his personal way of enjoying his life or being happy at the moment.
Material Stuff Doesn’t Lead to Happiness
“Happiness doesn’t depend on what we have, but it does depend on how we feel toward what we have. We can be happy with little and miserable with much.” William D. Hoard
So many of us believe having more stuff will make us happier, but this could not be further from the truth. Happiness is not about material things.
While it’s true that buying a new laptop or a fancy smartphone might improve your mood for a while, in a few days, that feeling will disappear. Your new purchase from last week will be just another gadget like all the others.
Instead, more important is what you feel about what you bought. And not just on the moment, but every day from now on. This way, you can feel gratitude even after a few years from the moment you purchase a certain product.
To Enjoy Life Doesn’t Require Doing Something Special
When we think of happy people, we often imagine them doing something extraordinary or being some of the world’s most successful people.
However, being happy doesn’t require you to be different, or unique, no matter what this means to you. Happiness does not demand anything from you, but it’s worth giving it everything. That’s because it’s an unconditional relationship.
Someone else always does more than you. Someone else always does better than you. This doesn’t mean that person is happier.
In fact, many times, doing better means working harder. And we all know that working harder often means less time to feel happiness.
There is Always Something New to Chase
“Some people CHASE happiness. And some people CHOOSE Happiness.” Robert Holden
Chasing something new is a never-ending circle because there will always be something new to pursue. Whether it’s about a material thing or an objective you set out to achieve, you can go on like this indefinitely.
You know that happiness exists. You know that there are a lot of happy people in this world. But you’ve been let to believe that you can’t be one of those people.
You’ve been lied over and over again. There are countless ways to make yourself happy, and they don’t require having superhuman abilities or reaching a specific goal.
Focus on Yourself and Your Thoughts
I have always been a propagator of the idea that you can choose the thoughts you want to think. When you become aware that your thoughts govern your life, it’s time to focus on having thoughts that lift you up and not on the ones that sink you even deeper.
Happy life means happy days.
To be happy every day depends only on you and that’s not hard at all. Making time to relax, moving more, meeting new people or making time for gratitude are only a few things you can do to make you feel better.
In the same time, these things can make you happier with what you already have. The hardest part of thinking like this is switching your mindset. Once you are able to see how you feel, you will never want to go back.
Live Each Day As If It Were Your Last
Probably one of the best approaches is to enjoy everything you do as if it were the last thing you would do. Think about it. We should all live like this.
Stop looking left or right. Instead, start looking more to the person in the mirror. That’s the one who will make you happy.
If you know the next thing will be the last thing you would do in this world, how would you see it? Probably as the most important thing you have left. More than that I’m sure you would do it with a smile on your face.
Choose to enjoy every moment. It is in your power to do so.
It’s said that strong essences are held in small bottles. That’s why you have to see every moment of your life, as if it is the most important, and rejoice as if it were the last thing you would do.
The essence of life is indeed the joy of living it.
