Three Lessons From My Garden That Changed My Life Forever
In the garden, I discovered my fears but there I also learned how to overcome them.
Do you have any phobias? If you do then you know is not easy to live with them. It is rather awful and they can even be detrimental to you and your family. I had a phobia once—well I still sort of do. But is not as disabling as it used to be. Life has allowed me to somewhat overcome what I feared most, let me tell you a bit about it.
My grandmother had a garden and I loved helping her plant new things and take care of them. She did most of the job but I did quite a bit too. Out of all the things, there were to do, helping my grandmother in the garden was my favorite thing. I dug holes for her, pull out weeds, and watered the plants and she did all the pruning and the feeding and the caring.
Growing up in the countryside I was used to encountering all sorts of wildlife ranging from exotic birds to venomous snakes. I enjoyed very much looking for ladybugs and tortoise beetles. It was often the case that when I looked for them I found myself facing undesirable species such as caterpillars and earthworms. Since I recall I feared them. I loved plants and playing with dirt but I was always aware of the creatures that lurked in them. So I always approached plants…
