Every time you intend to meet this person, you genuinely look forward to it.

Someone you are so busy hanging out with that taking pictures together is never a priority. So, you and your best friend barely have photos together.

Someone who may or may not be familiar with all of your personal details, yet who can make everything appear better in your life.

Someone who honestly takes the time to listen to all of your feelings and then offers you the best solution they can think of, with the best intentions.

Someone who can make you smile and laugh not only on normal days or on your best days, but also in the lowest moments of your life.

Someone who can offer you a shoulder in your worst hour.

With this person, you wouldn’t have to worry about giving and receiving money, or the other way around, because you would both have a common understanding.

There is no hatred or jealousy between you and the person you consider your best friend.

Even though you might occasionally have small fights, this is someone who would rather talk things out with you rather than making a big deal out of them. They wouldn’t have any long-term resentment or grudges against you. In these kinds of situations, they would want to enthusiastically understand your side of the story in order to close any communication gaps.

This is the one person who understands you much better than the rest of the world. Sometimes even more than your close family members.

This one person who would undoubtedly provide you with constructive criticism. This person wouldn’t be a yes-man only to win your approval.

Besides mocking you for virtually everything (except your deepest insecurities), jokingly, this is the one person that sends you a lot of appreciation for the good work you do.

They make fun of you in front, but behind your back they talk good things about you.

This is the one person with whom you can spill all of your secrets and even be vulnerable in some cases, whereas you cannot do so with some of your close family members because they will either become overly concerned about you or will not take you seriously due to a lack of understanding.

Someone with whom you may have been apart for a long time, yet even if you were to reunite later in life, your bond would be exactly the same as it was before you parted ways and took different paths in life.

Someone who could be on par with a close blood-related sibling. This person would not be any lesser than your family.

This is the one person who would literally die for you.

That is a TRUE BEST FRIEND for you.

The truth is that not every person you meet on a daily basis deserves to be considered to as one of your “best friends.” This is the sole reason for why there might only be one, or just a handful of people in your life deserving of this title.

If you are fortunate enough to have such a friend or friends in your life, remember to show your appreciation for their relationship by returning the favor by working to keep them close for the longest you can, the same way that they do.
