Yesterday, my girlfriend and I were road-tripping around Cape Town and talking about life. One of the topics that came up was spirituality and in particular spiritual awakenings.

She has just been through a big transformation herself, one that’s plugged her soul back into the universe’s life-giving energy. She’s more joyful, she feels more alive, and she’s appreciative of life again.

I asked her how she’s come to understand it in her body and she gave a brilliant analogy that I would love to share with you now.

“I see life-force energy coming through a tap and a hose pipe.” — She began. “The tap represents the flow of energy and the hose pipe represents how easily it moves.

My tap was a trickle at first so I started doing lots of things that were supposed to give me energy. However, this only made me more exhausted.

It was only when I started to unblock the pipe with body work, ancestral work, and nervous system regulation work did more life-force energy move freely through me.

That’s how I understand it anyway.”
