Habits are triggered by external or an internal stimulus also called a cue.

In the absence of a cue, a habit will not begin. And if the environment or context also changes, the habit is lost. But hold that thought for a moment.

Since habits are very sensitive to cues, it is important to handle habit change from what makes it exist in the first place.

Cue is your red magic pill when it comes to habits change

Over time, the cues that make us automatically fall into the habit loop become unconscious. That is why awareness of cues becomes the most important step in breaking a habit.

As habits are acquired, your brain forms a neural activity pattern that eventually settles into a fixed pathway, a process called chunking.
